Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler during routine checking at Jawahar Tunnel and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
“During routine checking at Jawahar Tunnel, a police party of Police Post Jawahar Tunnel intercepted a TATA vehicle bearing registration number JK02AB-8358,” the spokesman said.
“On checking the vehicle, 2.7 kilograms of Cannabis was recovered from the possession of Mohammad Rafi Mirza resident of Ward No 02 Rajouri, who was driving the vehicle,” he said.
“A case FIR No 272/18 under the relevant section of law has been registered in Police Station Qazigund and further investigation is on,” said the police spokesman in a statement.
