Drug Peddler Arrested in Pulwama; Heroin-like Substance Recovered

   

SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district arrested a drug peddler during a naka checking operation at Tahab General Road near the Dolphin Paramedical Institute hostel on Thursday.

During the checking, a suspicious Alto 800 vehicle (registration number JK03C-9715) was signalled to stop. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of approximately 20 grams of a heroin-like substance, following which the driver was apprehended on the spot.

The accused has been identified as Tariq Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Nabi Wani of Wahipora Litter. The vehicle used in the alleged offence was also seized by police.

Accordingly, FIR No. 40/2026 has been registered at Police Station Pulwama under relevant provisions of law, and further investigation has been initiated.

Jammu and Kashmir Police said operations against drug trafficking are being intensified across the region and reiterated its commitment to curbing the drug menace. The police also urged the public to share information related to drug peddling to assist enforcement efforts.
