SRINAGAR: The State Election Commission (SEC), Jammu and Kashmir, has announced the annual revision of the Panchayat Electoral Roll with April 1, 2026, fixed as the qualifying date.

As per Sub Rule 4 of Rule 4 of the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Rules, 1996, the revision will be conducted in accordance with the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989, and the procedures prescribed by the Election Authority. The revision will be based on the last updated electoral roll.
According to an official communication issued by the SEC, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) will publish the last updated integrated electoral roll in each Halqa Panchayat on March 27, 2026, along with a notice in Form PER-1. The draft Panchayat Electoral Roll-2026 will also be made available for public scrutiny from the same date.
Claims and objections regarding inclusion, deletion, correction and transposition of names will be invited from eligible voters between March 27 and April 29, 2026.
To facilitate participation, special camps will be organised at polling booth locations on April 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26, where Panchayat Election Booth Officials and Assembly Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will assist voters with forms and access to draft rolls.
The Commission has said eligible voters may approach District Panchayat Election Officers (DPEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and Panchayat Election Booth Officials (PEBOs) for assistance. The final disposal of claims and objections will be completed by May 8, 2026, while the final electoral roll will be published on May 15, 2026.
