Drug peddler held with 8 kilos of Charas in Srinagar: Police

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday has arrested a drug peddler and recovered about 08 kilograms of charas from his possession.

The spokesman during a Naka checking, a sumo bearing registration number JK05A-4325 driven by Mohammad Shafi Chopan son of Habib-ul-Lah Chopan resident of Devar Lolab was intercepted.

During the checking, 08 kilograms of charas was recovered from his possession.

A case FIR number 297/17 under section 8/20 NDPS has been registered and further investigation of the case is in progress. More arrests and recoveries are expected, the spokesman added.

People of District Srinagar has expressed their gratitude to J&K Police Chief Shri S.P. Vaid and IGP Kashmir Shri Munir Khan who has been personally monitoring the drive against this menace. They have also appreciated the role of Police in launching an effective campaign against drug peddlers and sale of psychotropic substances which are adversely affecting and ruining the future of the youth of the valley.
