Drug Peddler Held with Charas, Fire Damages House in Khrew



Continuing its drive against the drug menace, Police arrested a peddler and recovered over half a Kilogram of Charas from his possession.

A Police party led by SHO police station Vilgam Azim Iqbal under the supervision of SDPO Handwara during the naka checking at Dohama Crossing apprehended a Drug peddler Ashiq Hussain Khan son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan resident of Punzwa. On his checking police recovered 600 grams of Charas. Police registered a case FIR number 54/2015 under section 8/20 NDPS Act against him and investigation was taken up. During preliminary investigation it surfaced, he was selling contrabands to the local youth of the area indulging in the menace, a police statement said Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, a residential house was damaged in fire in Khrew area of Pulwama District last evening.

Fire broke out in the residential house of Mohammad Aslam Ganai son of Late Abdul Aziz a resident of Hamdaniya Colony, Khrew, resulting in partial damage to the house. Fire was brought under control with the help of fire tender and police.
