SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police in South Kashmir’s Awantipora arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession during routine checking.
“A police team from Police Post Reshipora intercepted a Tata Sumo (registration number JK13A-7136) during vehicular checking at Panzgam Railway Crossing. Two persons were on board and have been identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Hajam, son of Abdul Rashid Hajam, resident of Newa Pulwama, and Anees Mohammad, son of Ghulam Mohammad, resident of Karimabad,” police said in a statement.
During the search, 130 grams of a Charas-like substance was recovered from their possession. Both individuals were arrested and the vehicle was seized.
A case under FIR No. 106/2025 has been registered at Police Station Awantipora under relevant sections of law. Investigation is underway, police said.
