SRINAGAR: The Tangdar resident who was crushed in a road accident while fleeing from police had collected Rs 1.91 crore from his narco trading partner, police investigations have revealed. In a hot chase, the police in Udhampur arrested Jagtar Singh, the Punjab partner of the dead smuggler.

Jagtar Singh along with his SUV and a cash of Rs 19134030 in police station Udhampur. A drug dealer, he was arrested on August 3, 2022, as his Tangdar (Kashmir) accomplice; Mukhtiar was crushed to death in an accident while fleeing from police.

Reports appearing in the media said that Mukhtiar Ahmad, a resident of Prada village in Tangdar was supplying drugs to Singh in Punjab. He was on his way home with Rs 1.91 crore when the police intercepted their vehicle and chased them on August 3. He fled from the vehicle and was killed in an accident in Udhampur. However, the police arrested Singh along with money and 250 grams of Heroin.

Police had located the SUV – PD-08BS/6219 near Gole Mela Petrol Pump. It was a patrolling party that grew suspicious and started the chase.

Jagtar Singh, a resident of Pakhopur village in Tarn Taran district has been a consistent purchaser of drugs from Kashmir. He has told the police that he owns two trucks and an SUV and all these vehicles were used in the smuggling of drugs. The SUV was the same vehicle in which the duo was travelling when police intercepted them. The vehicle has been impounded now.

Now, police are probing if the narco smuggling has a terror angle and if the two members were part of any larger group in the region.
