Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand awarded one thousand education volunteers with promotion orders as Teacher at a function, organized by Directorate of School Education, Kashmir in connection with Educational Conference here Saturday.

The function was attended by Director School Education Kashmir, Mir Tariq Ali, State Project Director SSA, S.C. Sawhney, Additional Secretary Education, R. A Inqulabi, Joint Director Education Mrs. Suraya and Chief Education Officer Srinagar Munshi Mohammad Javeed, all Chief Education Officers, Zonal Education Officers and other functionaries of the department were also present on the occasion.

President EJAC, Abdul Qayoom Wani, Vice President and Chairman SENTEF, Nusrat A. Beigh were also present in the Conference.

Addressing the function, Deputy Chief Minister said that Teacher is builder of nation adding that Teacher deserves great respect and honour. Stressing upon the teaching community to maintain the status and dignity, Tara Chand asked the fraternity to be disciplined, dedicated, sincere and hard working while dealing with student community.

Giving resume of the achievements of Education Department, Tara Chand said that government issued promotion orders to thousands of Teachers, Masters, Headmasters as well as Lecturers during last financial year. Hundreds of class IV employees were promoted as Junior Assistant and today one thousand education volunteers were promoted as teachers after seven years of dedicated service.

Speaking about the status of Education Policy, Tara Chand said that the government constituted education board, comprising of noted educationists from all the three regions of the state to formulate new education policy so that the new generation is provided with latest and modern education in all the government and private institutions of the state.

He said two committees, one headed by Secretary, School Education shall formulate draft for Right to Education Act and another committee headed by Prof (Dr.) Farida of Delhi University shall d raft education policy.

Appealing all to admit their wards in government schools, Deputy Chief Minister said that government has posted qualified and trained staff in government schools and parents should take maximum benefit of these facilities.
