Under the banner of All Kashmir E-Rickshaw Association, the drivers staged a protest, claiming they are facing obstacles in their operations.

Arshid Abbas, President of the association said that traffic policemen prevented them from operating in the Karan Nagar area, despite it being listed in the permissible route plan by the RTO Office.

“We don’t understand the reasons for which we are being stopped from operating in the designated route plan. We have staged a protest today to press for our demands. In case we are not allowed to operate then the loans we have borrowed from the banks should be paid by the government itself,” Abbas said.

Furthermore, he added that they have called for a two-day strike to protest against the move and are also going to meet the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha tomorrow to seek his intervention in this regard.

Superintendent of Police Traffic, Muzaffar Shah said that the e-rickshaw drivers will not be stopped from operating on the designated route plan.
