Earthquake Tremors Felt in Parts of Jammu Kashmir 

   

SRINAGAR: Mild tremors were felt across several parts of Jammu and Kashmir late Wednesday night after a 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.

According to seismic data, the earthquake occurred at 11:27 pm (IST). The epicentre was located at 36.53°N latitude and 70.47°E longitude in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region, at a depth of 185 kilometres.

The tremors, though mild, were felt in parts of the Kashmir Valley and Jammu region, prompting many residents to briefly move outdoors as a precaution.

There were no immediate reports of any casualties or damage to property from anywhere in Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials said the situation is being monitored, while further details, if any, are awaited.
