SRINAGAR: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday issued a notification for 24 assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir, where voting is scheduled for 18th September.
The ECI issued the notification following the Lieutenant Governor’s separate notification, which called upon each of these 24 constituencies to elect members of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, following the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
The poll-body’s notification covers the constituencies of Pampore, Tral, Pulwama, Rajpora, Zainapora, Shopian, DH Pora, Kulgam, Devsar, Dooru, Kokernag (ST), Anantnag West, Anantnag, Srigufwara—Bijbehara, Shangus—Anantnag East, Pahalgam, Inderwal, Kishtwar, Padder–Nagseni, Bhadarwah, Doda, Doda West, Ramban, and Banihal.
According to the notification,candidates may file nomination papers for these seats until 27th August, with scrutiny of nominations to take place on 28th August.
The poll-body has set 30th August as the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures. — (KNO)
