The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered a special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls in all the assembly constituencies in the J&K State with reference to October 1, 2014 as the qualifying date for getting enrolled in the Electoral rolls by filling Form No.6.

According to Public Notice issued by Chief Electoral Officer Jammu &Kashmir, Umang Narula the draft publication of electoral rolls will be held on July 17, 2014 and objection if any for filling of claims will be submitted from July 17, 2014 to August 16, 2014.

Similarly, disposal of claims and objection will be held on August 30, 2014.Special camp days with Booth Level officers for receiving claims and objections will be held on August 3 and August 9, 2014.

The Final Electoral Rolls will be published on October 1, 2014.

The Draft Photo Electoral Roll, 2014 will be available at District and Tehsil Headquarters, Offices of Municipal Commissioner Srinagar and Jammu, at polling stations with the Booth Level Officers.

Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (Migrants) in Delhi and Jammu shall receive the claims and objections from the Kashmiri Migrants living within the jurisdiction as per the schedule mentioned above.

All individuals who are 18 years of age or above as on 1.10.2014 can get their names enrolled in the electoral rolls by filling Form No. 6 along with coloured photographs for getting Electors Photo Identity (EPIC). The persons who intend to object to proposed inclusion of names or seeking deletion of names may file objection by filling Form No.7. Electors who wish to apply for correction to their particulars should submit Form No.8. In case of shifting of names from one constituency/part to another due to change of residence, the concerned person/applicant can fill in Form no.8A and submit it before the concerned ERO. It should be noted that registration as a voter in two places, is an offence, under the J&K Representation of Peoples Act, 1957.

All stakeholders are therefore, requested to participate in the revision exercise in order to ensure that maximum number of eligible voters are enrolled in the Electoral Roll, the notification further added.
