A day after the three militants were killed in 48-hour long gunfight erupted between forces and militants at Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, Curfew like restriction were Tuesday imposed in Pantha Chowk to Pampore area to thwart any possible protests in these areas.

Despite imposing curfew like restriction, clashes erupted in several areas of South Kashmir including Pampore and others.

Clashes erupted between youth and forces in several areas including Pampore, Barsoo Awantipora, Mattan and other areas of South Kashmir’s Islamabad district and Pulwama district, eye-witnesses informed.

According to eye-witnesses, in several areas of Islamabad district, the people observed complete shutdown to mourn the killings of three militants who according to reports were buried in Uri.

Witnesses said clashes between and forces and youth erupted in several areas of the town.

Clashes were also reported from Barsoo area of Awantipora, thereby led to the closure of the area. “Soon after the clashes erupted in the area, the authorities imposed curfew like restriction to thwart possible protests,” eye-witnesses told KNS.

Reports said that the people of Tral area of South Kashmir also held prayers in absentia for the three slain militants who were killed in JKEDI building on Monday.

The three militants were holed up in a five -storey government building in Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district for more than 48 hours and were killed on Monday afternoon.

Earlier, militants attacked the CRPF convoy coming from Jammu-Srinagar; resulted in the killing of two CRPF personnel while nine others sustained injuries.

The militants after attacking convoy hid in JKEDI building and were killed after three days.
