As the siege of J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute (J&K EDI) is on, reports said that the suspected militants who are hiding inside the EDI main building had attacked a CRPF patrolling party.

“The militants attacked a CRPF patrolling party and then they rushed inside the EDI building,” police sources said. “So far, there is no contact with the hiding militants.” The number of militants is not known, however.

Official sources at EDI said that some of its employees are still trapped inside the computer lab and other sections. “We rushed outside for safety, however, the computer lab staff was caught unawares and are still inside,” the officials said. “There are nearly 25-30 employees inside the building where militants are hiding.”

The EDI sources said that around 160 candidates were being trained for various start up programs. “The candidates and other employees are inside Hostel and other buildings.”

In panic, the shopkeepers in nearby Pampore town closed their shops.
