As the death toll reached 6 with the killing of another para captain of the army police sources told Kashmir Life late Sunday evening that there was no exchange of fire between forces and suspected militants for last three hours.

Three to five militants are inside the EDI building for last 30 hours. Government forces including para army troopers, SOG and CRPF are engaged in the encounter. The suspected militants had attacked a CRPF convoy on Saturday evening.

Two CRPF men, one civilian, one army trooper, two para captains have been killed.

Sources further said that using grenades the para troopers have successfully secured the ground floor, first floor and second floor of the main building.

Earlier in the day, forces broke the glasses of the top floor housing the restaurant before setting it on fire, while fire tenders reached the spot. Army also used drone cameras to monitor the position of the militants.

Unconfirmed reports said one militant was killed. However, police sources refuted such claims.
