Northern Railways Sunday said that thousands of passengers are stranded at Jammu railway station due to the worsening situation in Haryana where Jats have set on fire 7 Railway stations.

The situation on NH1 was worse. Thousands of people were stranded at Haryana’s border areas as protesters blocked highways at key entry points. Jat protesters blocked the busy national highway near Kondli village in Sonepat district as early as 8 am Saturday, affecting vehicular movement to Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir. The protesters then deflated tyres of trucks and passenger buses.

According to reports, the situation is critical on NH1 with protestors burning the Sukhdev Dhaba completely and partially damaging Murthal Haveli while huge trenches have been dug to stop vehicular traffic.

Reports said that the stranded passengers have decided against travelling by road keeping in view the violence on NH1.
