Asserting that the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has many pleasant surprises for the girl students of Jammu and Kashmir, Minister for Education Sayeed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today said girl students have special status under her leadership.

“Our government is focused on providing all facilities for girl students and Chief Minister herself is keen to implement various development programmes for the students,” Bukhari said.

Bukhari was speaking at the Annual Day function of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Amira Kadal where he was the Chief Guest.

The function was attended by Secretary School Education, Farooq Ahmad Shah, Director Education, Dr G. N Itoo, Chairperson BOSE, Veena Pandita, Director Academics, BOSE, CEO Srinagar, Principals of various colleges and other concerned officials.

The Minister announced a fund of Rs 15 lakh for the school and said that an auditorium will be made, the laboratory will be upgraded and the better infrastructure will be provided to the students.

Several cultural programs, skits and programs highlighting social and environmental issues, were performed by various group of girls which was highly appreciated by the audience. The Minister said that these extra-curricular activities are necessary for the overall development of students in addition to formal education.

He announced a reward of Rs 5000 each for all the performing groups at the event. In addition to it, one-day trip to Gulmarg, Gondola ride and lunch was announced in recognition of their talent.

Later, the Minister distributed mementos and certificates among the students who have achieved positions in academics and various extra-curricular activities.
