To stop the dangerous practice of one wheeling, bike stunt and speed racing during Eid ul fitr, the traffic police have decided to deploy special moving traffic squads in Boulevard and other parts of the Srinagar City.

SSP Traffic, Kashmir range Maqsood U Zaman told KNS over phone that special traffic moving police squads would be deploy at Boulevard and other areas of the city to stop bike stunt, one wheeling and speed racing  during Eid ul fitr. “These special squads assisted by the police cops would monitor the speed racing and other traffic violations during the Eid day and anyone caught one wheeling or racing would be arrested, their vehicles or motorcycles would be seized,” SSP said.

He said that directions have been issued to the traffic police to remain extra vigilant and not to exhibit leniency towards anyone committing violation of law. “We have also made extra deployment of traffic police officials at markets and shopping areas,” he said.

He said that the traffic police officials will also be deployed around all major mosques in the city during Eid prayers to help coordinate traffic and parking. “Similar arrangements will be made at recreation centers and public parks, which see an increased number of visitors on Eid day,” he added.

The SSP appealed to residents of the city to act civilized, maintain road discipline and not cause hindrances in traffic flow. “Two wheeler motorists should wear helmets to avoid fatalities,” he said and appealed parents to dissuade their teenage kids from doing stunts.
