Eight army men, including a Major, were injured in an accidental explosion in Rajara area of Handwara in north Kashmir on Tuesday. Among the injured, two of them are said to be critical.

The incident occurred when the army was on their training in the forest area of the Rajwara, and the grenade went off, the report by Hindustan Times said.

The report added that soon after the incident the injured contingents were rushed were rushed to Drugmulla for the treatment and from where two who had received serious injuries including the Major were referred to the Army’s Base Hospital for specialized treatment.

Earlier some reports suggest that a Rashtriya Rifles team led by the Major was passing through the forested patch of Zatchaldara when the blast occurred.
