Amid the complete shutdown in the area, thousands of people on Wednesday participated in the funeral prayers of a local militant who was killed along with his associate during an encounter with government forces in Midoora village of Tral in Pampore district of south Kashmir.

The two slain militants killed in an encounter were identified as Showkat Ahmed of Tral and another nephew of JeM chief Masood Azhar.

Reports said that people in hoards thronged to the house of a local slain militant since early morning to pay their condolences. People from various areas of the district have reached to Handoora to participate in the funeral prayers of the slain militant, at least four rounds of funeral prayers were offered to them.

Earlier, reports suggest that multiple rounds of funeral prayers were held. Later a group of militants also appeared in the funeral and offered some gunshots to pay tributes to their slain associates.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in Tral Township to mourn the killings of Jaish militants. Earlier Police said that the slain duo was involved in a “series of attacks on the forces from a distance.”
