Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested eight thieves and a contractor who used to buy the stolen items from them, from Rajbagh area of Srinagar and stolen property worth lacs of rupees were recovered from their possession.
The spokesman said that community members from Rajbagh area had recently complained to Police Station Rajbagh about such criminal activities. Police, in this regard, had intensified patrolling and night checking in the area, following which eight people were arrested.
He said, while questioning, the accused persons disclosed their hideout where they had dumped all the stolen goods. Police have also seized the stolen items which include geysers, cooking utensils, copper, blankets, TVs and other household items.
During the course of the investigation, police also arrested a contractor associated with them. Meanwhile, a case has been registered, and further investigations have been taken up.
