eTwo women died of electric shock in North and South Kashmir on Tuesday.

A police official told Global News Service that Fareeda Bano, wife of Mohd Rafiq Bhat received severe electric shock while repairing a heater at her home in Arwani area of the Bijbehra in district Islamabad, Tuesday morning.

Fareeda was rushed to a nearby hospital in an unconscious state where doctors declared her brought dead, he said.

The body of the deceased was handed over to her family for last rites, the official said, adding that a pall of gloom descended in the village after Fareeda’s death spread in the area.

In another incident, a woman was electrocuted while carrying a pile of grass on her head in Tangdar, Karnah, he said.

He said that Safeena daughter of Abdul Gani Lone resident of Tanghdar while coming from Nad Battagi with grass on her head came in contact with an electric line at Nad, Kupwara. She was electrocuted and died on spot.

Meanwhile, police have registered cases and started further investigations in the two separate incidents, the official added.
