Embezzlement case: Three years imprisonment for policeman

Passenger Tax Court Tuesday awarded three years imprisonment to a police head constable for swindling large chunk of money during his official duty.

According to CNS police had filed an FIR vide number 248/2001 under section 509 against fugitive head constable Muhammad Yousuf Shah son of Ghulam Ahmed resident of Takia Behramshah Islamabad for swindling rupees 7.5 lakhs when he was posted in the department as a cashier.

The said police head constable was directed to handover the missing cash before the Inquiry Commission, however, he failed to do so and instead became a fugitive.

In the court of Passenger Tax, Justice Ashwani Kumar Sharma awarded him three years imprisonment for committing fraud. The police Head Constable was arrested soon after the Court verdict and was lodged into Central Jail Srinagar.
