The protesting temporary employees of Public Health Engineering (PHE), Friday created emotional scenes in the press colony as they wept bitterly after many of their colleague’s condition worsened on the fifth day of their hunger strike.

The contractual employees of PHE are on an indefinite hunger strike in the premises of Chief Engineer’s office to press for their demands.

The protesting PHE employees reached press colony after Friday prayers with some of their serious colleagues who fainted and the rest of the protesters wept severely, beat their faces and chanted anti government slogans.

The contractual employees of PHE department are demanding regularization of jobs, pay hike and release of arrears since long.

“The government had promised that all our demands will be fulfilled, but till date nothing has been done,” the protesters said and added their children are facing starvation because they could not fulfill their necessities with the very ‘meager’ salaries that too are pending from a long.

The protesters later marched back to the venue where they are sitting on a hunger strike.
