An Army officer was killed on Friday when Pakistani troops opened firing on Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC), in the Mandi area of  Poonch sector, reports said.

“Pakistani troops opened fire in the Fauziyan sector of Poonch, killing an Indian junior commissioned officer( JCO),” defense sources said.

In what is alleged to be an infiltration bid, Pakistani forces violated the ceasefire along the LoC for the fourth time in two weeks. The heavy firing which continued for two hours on Friday killed an officer, report added.

Both the countries allege one another of violating the ceasefire on LoC which is in place from around ten years.
