In Jammu and Kashmir, work in most government offices was adversely affected for the second consecutive day as the employees pen-down strike to press their demands continued on Wednesday.

Among other things, the employees are demanding regularization of daily-wagers engaged after 1994, removal of pay anomalies in the clerical cadre and enhancing their retirement age from 58 to 60 years.

“This is our third round of protest programme as the administration has failed to fulfill our demands,” Farooq Trali said while addressing the employees before taking out a rally towards Divisional Commissioner’s office.

Government employees of the state started their two-day pen down strike Tuesday to press for their demands.
Work in most state government offices in Srinagar and other district headquarters took a hit because of the employees’ strike, sources said.
