SRINAGAR: An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district on Wednesday, officials said.
An official said the exchange of fire began after security forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the area, following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists.
“The joint operation is underway in the area,” the official said.
Sources said two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area.
