The report from South Kashmir’s Kulgam are that four militants and two army men have been killed in the encounter.

The police confirmed the killings. An official while talking to Kashmir Life identified the two slain militants as Mudasir Ahmad Tantray, a resident of Redwani and Farooq Ahmad Dar, a resident of Arow in Kulgam. The identity of other two is not yet confirmed.

The slain soldiers in the encounter were identified by police as Lance Naik Raghubeer Singh (4578033Y) and Bhandoriya Gopal Singh (45687392W), also a Lance Naik. Major P K Nigam and rifle man Shiraz Ahmaws survived with injuries from the encounter.

According to police sources, it was an overnight gun-battle which resumed after the police started scanning the debris in the Nagbal village which falls under the jurisdiction of police station Frisal. The operation was carried out by a joint forces comprising Army’s 1st RR and Special Operations group of J&K Police.
