One para-commando has suffered injuries in an ongoing encounter in Sagipora forest area of Sopore in northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.
Reports said that an encounter ensued between militants and forces at Sagipora forest area of Sopore after a joint team of army’s 22 RR and SOG launched a cordon and search operation in the area following specific inputs about the presence of some militants.
“As such the joint team of forces intensified the combing operation to trace the hiding militants and fired several warning shots. The fire was retaliated by the militants triggering a gunfight,” they said.
On Para-Commando has suffered injuries in the encounter so far.
The exchange of heavy gunfire was going on when reports last came in.
