A Maruti car, bearing registration number JK 09-3720, collided with an electric pole in Iqbal market Sopore early Thursday morning resulting in serious injuries to the driver of the vehicle, Police said.
The injured, identified as Hafeez Hussain, son of Ghulam Rasool, a resident of Kupwara, was shifted to a local hospital where from he was referred to SMHS Srinagar for advanced treatment.
According to hospital authorities, the condition of the injured is stated to be critical.
Police have registered a case.
Meanwhile, a Maruti car caught fire when a tipper hit it near Silk Factory Rajbagh in the city last night. The driver and other occupants of the car escaped unhurt in the accident.
The tipper driver fled the scene, sources said.
Police have registered a case and investigations started.
