A fierce encounter between the suspected militants and forces has started in Handwara, Monday afternoon resulting in the panic among the civil population.
Police sources told Kashmir Life that after a tipoff, the personnel of SOG, 21 and 30 RR cordoned off the area in Haremohalla, Rajpoura in Handwara resulting in the encounter.
They added that heavy exchange of firing was going on in the area between the holed up militants and the forces.
Police sources said that extra contingent of forces has been sent to the area and the operation was going on.
