The State Vigilance Commission (SVC) has directed Jammu Development Authority (JDA) and other connected departments for demarcation of state land, allegedly encroached by some persons in connivance with JDA officials at village Keran (Bantalab), Jammu.

Earlier, while proceeding on a complaint lodged by inhabitants of village Keran, Jammu through Sarpanch, alleging therein that the state land bearing Khasra No. 312 min, measuring about 29 Kanals 19 Marlas, situated at Village Keran, Jammu was transferred to JDA, some years back for development purposes—”but, owing to non-seriousness and mismanagement on the part of Jammu Development Authority, the said land remained vacant and unattended, resulting in  encroachment by some greedy and selfish persons, who not only constructed  shopping complexes, but, have also managed wrong entries in the Revenue records by greasing palms of Revenue authorities, the Commission called a report from Vice Chairman Jammu Development Authority in light of the accusations”, said Secretary/Addl. Secretary SDA.

“The report submitted by the Secretary, Jammu Development Authority to the Commission, discloses that a good portion of land under Khasra No. 312 min was transferred to Jammu Development Authority but, at present some shopping complexes exist on the land in question and in order to ascertain the factual position of the land, demarcation needs to be carried out by the Revenue Authorities in consultation with officials of the Jammu Development Authority,” he said.

“The State Vigilance Commission while taking serious note of the issue has directed JDA and Revenue authorities to get the land demarcated at the earliest, so that the public servants who, by their acts of omissions and commissions, facilitated the encroachments over the said land by private individuals are dealt in accordance with the law. The Commission also directed for submission of compliance report positively on 11-02-2016, failing which appropriate proceedings shall be initiated against defaulters.”
