Independent legislator from north Kashmir’s Langate constituency, Engineer Abdul Rashid has condemned the arrest of senior Hurriyat Leader Nayeem Ahmad Khan claiming that the arrest has exposed the tall and hallow claims made by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah regarding talks between separatists and government of India.

“Claims of Omar and his colleagues that separatists must talk to the government of India for the resolution of Kashmir issue and central government is ready to have unconditional talks with the center is a farce”, he said in a press statement issued on Friday.

He said that Chief Minister must explain if this is the way to start the meaningful dialogue. “He has been talking often to resolve the Kashmir issue. Government must answer as to why is it always in a hurry to suppress Kashmiris by involving them in fake cases but has failed to take action against Vishvo Hindu Parishad’s supremo Parveen Togadya against whom FIR stands already lodged for his hatred, communal and anti Muslim speech at Rajouri”.

He criticized both state and central government for not wasting any opportunity in giving Kashmiris a sense of defeat by taking pro active measures.

“On one hand mighty state of India is trying to portrait itself before the world community as a very moderate and democratic country but at the other hand is leaving no stone unturned to demoralize Kashmiris and their genuine leadership and is doing every damn and petty thing to run away from the meaningful dialogue to resolve Kashmir dispute obviously because government of India has always been very weak on moral and legal wicket regarding the dispute. He demanded immediate release of all Kashmiris detained in various jails including Nayeem Khan and said that if New Delhi and it well wishers in Kashmir still believe that they enjoy mass support in Kashmir, they must allow Hurriyat leaders to continue with their peaceful activities and it should be left to the people of the state which ideology they want to support”, reads the statement.
