SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Tuesday impressed upon the Jammu and Kashmir administration to ensure all facilities to people on the forthcoming Muharram Observance Days.

Party’s Members of Parliament Muhammad Akbar Lone and Hasnain Masoodi urged the administration to ensure all basic civic amenities to people in view of the forthcoming auspicious month of Muharram.  The MPs said the administration should review all the arrangements, they also urged the divisional administration to direct the concerned district commissioners to converge their efforts to ensure smooth conduct of Muharram, especially during procession days, so that people don’t face any inconvenience on account of paucity of different facilities and civic amenities.

The Members of Parliament have also urged the administration to pass necessary directions to the Srinagar Municipal and other municipal committees to ensure that streetlights in and around religious places are made fully functional. “Sanitation and cleanliness drives should be ensured throughout the month on priority. The endeavor of the government should be to ensure to that the devotees get every type of facility,” the MPs said in a joint statement.

They also said that during the prevailing circumstances of COVID -19 crises, it was the added duty of the administration to ensure safety and security of all the devotees. “Administration should hold threadbare discussions with the religious leaders in view of the forthcoming month to ensure the proper implementation of COVID-19 protocol and health advisories. The administration is expected to use all sorts of media to aware the people about the advisories and SOPs necessary. We hope the administration will rise up to its expectations and deliver effectively. Certain preemptive measures by the administration will go a long way in safeguarding the well being of people,” they observed.

Meanwhile, Party’s Central Zone President Ali Muhammad Dar, District presidents have also urged the administration to ensure smooth conduct of Muharram Observance in their respective districts across the Kashmir Division.
