Hundreds hailing from different walks of life on Thursday joined AIP’s solidarity march with Jammu Muslims and in support of Article 35-A in Srinagar.

The party spokesman said that protesters holding play cards against “Jungle Raj in Jammu province, conspiracy against Advocate Talib Hussain and killing of Murfad Shah” inside Farooq Abdullah’s residence started a march from Sher-I-Kashmir Park.

The protest march led by MLA Langate and AIP president Er Rasheed, protestors chanted slogans in support of Talib Hussain and other issues. However, a heavy contingent of police prevented the protesters from moving towards Lal Chowk near Pratap Park and detained Er Rasheed along with two dozen party activists including Sheban Ashai, Peerzada Mushtaq Ahmad, Tahir Mir, and others.

Before his detention, Rasheed while talking to media said that AIP believes in giving Kashmiris Right to self-determination but protecting 35-A cannot be taken-for-granted. He said that credible inputs suggest that in around 16 localities in Jammu region nomads and Gujars are being asked to leave their ancestral places. “Jammu police seem to have forgotten its professional duties and there is no accountability,” he said.
