Er Rasheed celebrating state flag day, seeks people’s participation

Appealing masses to participate in the 5th State Flag Day celebrations to be organized by AIP on  June 7 in Srinagar, Independent Lawmaker and MLA Langate Er Rasheed has said that we must preserve what we have and continue our struggle for what has been snatched or promised to us.

In a statement issued on Friday Er Rasheed said: “At a time when Delhi rather agreeing to the peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute is trying to bulldoze the special status guaranteed to the state, by taking the route of Supreme Court, people of Jammu and Kashmir must wake up and protect their special status and identity.”

“It is worth to mention that it was on June 7, 1952, when the state constituent assembly passed the resolution and state got its own flag and anthem,” Er Rasheed said.

Er Rasheed added that there has to be no shortcut but only right to self-determination can resolve Kashmir dispute. However, till good sense prevails in Delhi we must not allow Indian state complete integration of J&K with Union of India.

He said “The state flag and the state anthem are ample proof to recognize that Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory and by no means, Jammu and Kashmir is like any other state of India or Pakistan’s jugular vein. We need also not to forget that the Azad Jammu and Kashmir has also its own flag and own anthem. Protecting state flag and state anthem would be a best and legitimate effort to defeat the nefarious designs of those calling for ‘Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan’.”

Er Rasheed said it is worth to mention that AIP has been celebrating the state flag day every year since the party came into existence.

He said “It is high time for people of Jammu and Kashmir and political parties of various thoughts to ensure that state flag gets due respect and world comes to know about J&K being a separate identity. It is the duty of every Kashmiri to restore and protect the dignity of the state flag and they must avail the opportunity by participating in the June 7, function to display their loyalty and love for their nation.”
