Incumbent Langate MLA Er Rasheed was Friday manhandled by Police when he was on way to Dooru to express condolences with the family of Sajad Ahmad, Inam-un-Nabi, the spokesperson of Rasheed alleged.
He said that they were on way to Dooru when then were stopped by a contingent of police. “They didn’t allow us to move towards Dooru.”
Inam said that they requested the police to allow them to meet the SSP Islamabad. “We were allowed to turn back but only to be stopped again outside the SSP office,” he said.
Rasheed was later dragged down from the vehicle and in the process he felt into a drain.
“They bundled him into a police vehicle and started beating him left right and centre, Inam said and added, “He was injured in the Police action.”
Inam said Rasheed was later driven to Police Station Bijbehara and has been lodged there. “Even though I talked to IGP Kashmir and apprised him about the incident. But Rasheed is yet to be released.”
