Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) President and MLA Langate, Er Rashid Friday announced that he will support if National Conference (NC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will form the new government to rule Jammu and Kashmir.

Rashid won from Langate segment for the second consecutive time in the recently concluded assembly elections.

Rashid has been an advocate of NC-PDP coalition “to defeat the New Delhi designs”.

Rashid offered unconditional support to NC –PDP coalition government and said, “NC and PDP should join hands for the betterment of Kashmir and safeguarding the interests of people of Kashmir.”

However he added “Both parties are afraid to enter into alliance as they will then have to in pragmatic terms implement their Autonomy and Self- Rule slogans and cannot hoodwink further the masses of Kashmir as previously excusing the lack of majority they used it as alibi not to implement autonomy and self-rule . NC and PDP are also not entering into alliance as they are afraid of Delhi. ”

“NC, PDP should remember that it is the crucial juncture in the political history of Kashmir and their every step would be keenly watched and analyzed and for restoring honour of people of Kashmir these two parties should form government and I assure them complete support of my party. If PDP leader Muzafer Baig can meet BJP leader Ram Madhav why can’t he meet NC leadership. PDP should seriously respond to offer of support from Omar Abdullah,” Rashid said.

While ruling out any support to Bhartiya Janta Party led government Rashid said, “in backdrop of anti-Kashmir stand of BJP we cannot afford to have a BJP lead government in the state.”
