Independent legislator and president Awami Ittihad Party Er Rashid Friday reiterated his call seeking scrapping of “archaic” laws banning sale and slaughter of bovine animals.

Rashid claimed that his posters seeking support to anti-beef ban bill had garnered around one lakh signatures.

His bill is likely to come up for discussion in Jammu Kashmir legislative assembly which is scheduled to begin tomorrow.

While holding a sit-in at the Pratap Park today, Rashid urged legislators to respect the view, sentiments and aspirations of people who have elected them.

He also opposed the action of authorities over stopping him in Jammu region to carry forward ‘anti-beef signature campaign.’
