SRINAGAR: Abrar Rashid, son of jailed Member of Parliament Engineer Abdul Rashid Sheikh, on Monday, welcomed the two-day custody parole granted to his father, calling it a positive development that will finally allow him to raise the concerns of his over 5 lakh voters in Parliament.

“My father missed three parliamentary sessions, but now he has a chance to speak for the people who elected him,” Abrar said.
He expressed gratitude to those who supported his father’s case, including former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who voiced concern after over a week. “Now, we urge the Central Government to respect the people’s mandate,” he added.
With a hearing for regular bail scheduled on February 11, Abrar remains hopeful for a favorable decision. He emphasized that Er Rashid’s release would serve the larger interests of the people of North Kashmir.
Earlier today, the Delhi High Court granted two-day custody parole to Er Rashid, the chief of Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) and MP from Baramulla constituency. (KNO)
