SRINAGAR: Srinagar witnessed two devastating fire incidents on Monday, reducing seven residential houses to ashes and leaving multiple families homeless, officials said.
According to an official from the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) Department, the first blaze broke out at Gati Colony, Noorbagh, around 11:20 AM, damaging five houses. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation, though locals suspect a short circuit in an electric smart meter triggered the flames.
Later in the evening, another fire erupted in Chanpora at 5:54 PM, engulfing two more residential houses. Firefighters responded swiftly, but the structures sustained significant damage. The cause of this fire is also being investigated.
Authorities have assured a thorough probe into both incidents, while affected families seek urgent assistance. (KNO)
