Two civilians have reportedly sustained injuries after trouble erupted in Muran Chowk area of Pulwama district Monday following ‘molestation attempt’ on a local girl allegedly by the cops from J&K Police.
Sources said clashes took place as soon as the word about the incident spread. Locals resorted to stone pelting protests against police and paramilitary forces. Sources said a patrol party of 55 RR that passed through the area fired warning shots aerially to disperse the angry protesters. The panic-stricken locals rushed to safer places and closed down the shops and other business establishments soon after the tension spread.
Sources told Kashmir Life earlier that some police personnel were harassing a girl when locals spotted them and raised alarm. Unconfirmed reports added that cops tried to bundle the girl in the gypsy before the ‘kidnap’ attempt was stifled by the locals who apprehended the cops and thrashed them.
Sources said, soon police party rushed to the spot and fired tear gas to disperse the angry public.
