Situation turned tense in the Muran Chowk area of Pulwama district Monday after cops from J&K police were thrashed for allegedly eve-teasing a girl.
Sources told Kashmir Life that some J&K police personnel were harassing a girl when locals spotted them and raised alarm.
One of the cops identified as Mohammad Ashraf, a constable from Pattan sustained severe injuries and was later rushed to District Hospital Pulwama.
The cops were apprehended by the public and beaten. Sources said, soon police party rushed to the spot, fired tear gas to disperse the angry public.
Reports said that police also resorted to aerial firing after incidents of stone pelting broke out in the area.
