SRINAGAR: Former chief conservator of forests, Syed Noor ul Hassan Rufai is no more. He was unwell and admitted to SKIMS for many days. He was 92.

An eye witness to turbulent history and one of the well-read persons of kashmir, Rufai had a long inning in Kashmir’s forest department. He had retired as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and after post-retirement, he remained busy in contributing to society in his own way. He had also been writing about and around kashmir

Alumni of Islamia High School Srinagar, where from he had passed his matriculation in 1944, he breathed his last on June 5. His Namaz Jinaza was performed in the afternoon at Wazir Khan Masjid, Baghat Barazalla.

His wife passed away in November 2021.
