Crime branch of police has formally registered a case against the son of Congress leader and Cabinet Minister, Peerzada Mohammad Syed in the exam gate case of 2009 where in the accused Imam Soban was found resorting to fraudulent means to pass his 10th class board exams by the help of the staff members conducting examination.

Pertinently, in 2009 then education minister Peerzada Sayeed’s foster son was found resorting to fraudulent means to pass his 10th class board exams.

The Minister’s son had allegedly made the Jammu & Kashmir State Board officials write his papers. Crime branch sources told Kashmir Life that after the completion of inquiry it has been established that Urdu, Mathematics and Geography papers are with dual handwriting.

They added that a case FIR number 1/2014 under sections 419,420,467,468,120B RPC 5/2 Corruption act has been registered against the Ministers son, Imam, then examination Assistant Superintendents Javed Ahmad, Imtyaz Ahmad Zargar and Mukhtar Ahmad besides examination superintendent Tariq Gilani.

Peerzada is accused of facilitating his son’s qualification in the 2009 matriculation examination through “unfair means and impersonation.

Sources said Imam had secured Marks 283 out of 500.

They added that the preliminary report prepared by the vigilance squad of the Board of School Education (BOSE) has mentioned  that an academic officer found an examinee bearing roll number 228211, copying during the inspection at centre number 228 (Al Ameen School). The student was the then education minister Sayeed’s son. The report also said that the then deputy director (academics) was assisting the examinee and his Urdu, Geography and mathematics answer sheets were found in dual handwritings.

Pertinently, in 2012 Peerzada was taken out of the education portfolio and was given another one.

Peerzada in 2008 had to resign as the education minister after being accused of demanding a bribe for clearing a file of Shoab Ahmad Lone, the then MLA’s sister.

The state accountability commission (SAC) also indicted Sayeed for his alleged involvement in the rural electrification scam worth crores of rupees in 2005.
