Teachers’ Forum Chairperson Abdul Qayoom Wani on Monday said that the conduction of exams in October again would make students of Kashmir valley suffer as people already had pleaded before the authorities to make March session a permanent feature.

Talking to KNS, Wani said that since all the exams across India are conducted in March or April, there are already six months which the students of Kashmir loose due to the exams being conducted in October here.

“The government should have taken into consideration the views and demands of civil society, academicians and parents before declaring that it have resorted to old practice.  It is not possible that the syllabus would be completed within three or four months. It will put extra burden on the system,” Wani said.

He maintained that either there should be open choice in exams or syllabus should be curtailed as it would not be possible for the students to coup up with the challenge.

Commenting over the reports that there would no holidays for summer this year, Wani said that such decisions are taken while keeping in mind the situation on ground. “If there is increase in temperatures then there is no option but to declare the summer holidays for the kids and if there is no change in weather, schools must function normally.”
