Indian and Pakistani troops once again exchanged firing on the Line of Control (LoC). Both the countries are accusing one another of violating the ceasefire which in place since 2003.

Pakistani troops fired at Indian positions in Akhnoor sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir late Monday, an army spokesman said on Tuesday.

“Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing using light weapons and automatics at our positions in Akhnoor sector of the LoC yesterday evening (Monday),” Captain S.N. Acharya reportedly said.

“Our troops retaliated with calibrated response. Till last reports came in, intermittent exchange of fire was going on in the sector,” he said.

Since the beginning of this year, India and Pakistan have exchanged firing despite a ceasefire agreement signed between the two neighbours in November 2003.
