At a time when Employees Joint Action Committee (JCC) is facing leadership crises because two of its senior leaders have joined a main stream political party, the state employees are observing boycott of their offices for the second consecutive day.

Sources said that work in government offices was Tuesday, severely affected due to the second days strike called by the employees’  joint action committee to press for their demands including enhancing the retirement age from 58 to 60 years.

They added that most of the government offices were locked out while attendance in some offices was thin.

However, essential services, which are exempted from the strike, were operating as usual, the officials said.

Employees march towards Civil Secretariat was foiled a day before by police.

The state employees are demanding enhancement in the retirement age from 58 to 60 years, regularisation for the daily rated workers, casual labourers and need based workers engaged after 1994, removal of pay anomaly of clerical cadre (pre-revised Rs 6500-10500) and budgetary support for public sector.
