SRINAGAR: The Gulmarg Development Authority has directed concerned persons and unit holders to remove hazardous, unwanted and unsightly materials from public areas within its jurisdiction, particularly the Gulmarg Bowl, within one week.
In a circular issued on September 12, Chief Executive Officer of the Tourism Development Authority Gulmarg Alyaz Ahmad Naisroo said various items lying along roads, pathways and other public places were causing visual nuisance and, in some cases, posing potential risks to public safety and convenience.
The directive covers old or damaged boards, bricks, stones, gravel, temporary fencing, benches, tools and equipment, broken dustbins and any other material or structure that is unsightly, obstructive, abandoned or poses a risk to the public.
The concerned persons and unit holders have been directed to clear the areas completely and maintain them in a clean, safe and aesthetically acceptable condition. The circular also prohibits the storage or placement of any material in public areas without prior permission from the competent authority.
The Authority has warned that if the items are not removed within the stipulated period, it may clear them without further notice at the risk and cost of the concerned person, agency or unit.
The circular states that the Authority will not be responsible for any loss or damage to the material during removal. Any expenditure incurred in the process will be recovered from the person responsible in accordance with the rules.
All concerned officers, officials and members of the public have been asked to ensure compliance and submit a report after the expiry of the one-week deadline.
The enforcement authorities have also been directed to prepare a complete inventory of such items within seven days and submit it to the Gulmarg Development Authority for further action.
