A nine-year old girl who fainted during a raid and was subsequently hospitalized has died, the family alleged to local news gathrer CNS. Identified as Saiqa Jan, she was daughter of Abdul Majid Dar of Havoora village in Kulgam.

“Saiqa fainted and lost her consciousness when Army personnel from Sunnigam and Frisal camps went on a rampage in the village on October 2,” Abdul Rehman Dar, the girl’s uncle alleged. “She was frightened when soldiers thrashed people and damaged residential houses.” Shocked, her nervous system had paralyzed, he said.

Saiqa was admitted in Koimouh and Islamabad hospitals for last 22 days as she was undergoing treatment at GB Panth Hospital Srinagar and during this period she never uttered a single word from her mouth. “She was in deep shock and died on Saturday,” Dar said.

A police official said he lacked knowledge of the incident. But doctors at GB Panth Hospital said Saiqa had inflammation in the membranes of the brain and the adjoining cerebral tissue which in medical terminology is called ‘Meningoencephalites’. “She died of this disease,” the doctors added.
